Sail Amsterdam 19 August until 23 August 2010
SAIL Amsterdam was started on 19 August 2010 with the SAIL-IN Parade. Various tall ships, naval ships, replicas and yachts sailed in formation through the North Sea Canal from IJmuiden to Amsterdam.
SAIL 2010 takes place on and around the IJ river in Amsterdam. The event is well within walking distance of Amsterdam Central Station. A pedestrian route has been marked out for you which leads you along all activities on the SAIL grounds. The route starts at De Ruyterkade and continues in a counterclockwise direction via KNSM island, Java island, Amsterdam-Noord and back to Central Station. The total distance is 5 kilometres.
All the information you need to plan your trip (e.g. public transport, bicycle routes, parking options) can be found on www.bereikbaar.amsterdam.nl. The entire SAIL area is not accessible to motorised traffic from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. For questions regarding accessibility, area residents should consult their city district. The tram lines 25 (PTA) and 26 (IJburg) will continue their regular service during SAIL 2010. The ferry service from Central Station to the Buiksloterweg in Amsterdam Noord will also follow its usual route.
